After years of land development and golf course construction and irrigation, Donn Marshall and Rich Leeds knew first hand the need for quality sod in Northern California. So in 1987 Donn and Rich purchased over 250 acres along the Sacramento River in Butte City, Ca. just south of Chico. The rich river loam, (known as Zamora loam) proved to be excellent for producing turf.
As Northern California grew so did the need for sod. In 1994 Donn and Rich started another sod farm, again, on the Sacramento River in Anderson, Ca. just south of Redding. This enabled Zamora Sod Farms to reach customers from the Sacramento Valley to the Oregon border and from Reno to the west coast.
Our customers range from residential to commercial, land developers, landscape contractors and general contractors all with various sod needs. From home lawns to athletic fields, golf courses, parks and street-scapes, Zamora grows a variety of turf to fill those needs; Hybrid Bermuda, fescues, blue grass, rye grass and several blends.
Our service areas include: Butte County, Grass Valley, Humboldt County, Lassen County, Mendocino County, Nevada City, Sacramento areas, Shasta County, Siskiyou County, Susanville, Tehama County and everywhere in between.
Most orders can be delivered within 2 days, or you can pick up your order at either farm Monday thru Saturday with 1 days notice.
